Dallas Mavericks talisman Luka Doncic has impressed and one all with his skills. Doncic is one of the biggest rising stars of the NBA and he has been the cynosure of all eyes. The 22-year old has won many hearts with his impressive play in the NBA.
Doncic had another stellar season for the Mavericks as he averaged 27 points, 8 assists, and 8 rebounds in the regular season. Furthermore, he averaged 35.7 points and 10 assists in the playoffs this season. However, his efforts went in vain as the Dallas Mavericks were knocked out in the first round of the postseason by the LA Clippers.
Meanwhile, with the Tokyo Olympics all set to begin from July 23, Doncic has set his eye on the big event. USA is one of the favorites to clinch the Gold medal at the coveted global event whereas Doncic wants to take Slovenia all the way in the upcoming event.
Doncic stated that a gold medal at the Olympics will mean more to him than an NBA Championship as playing for the national team is big for him. The youngster added that he won’t mind winning both titles.
In an interview, Luka Doncic was asked what would mean more to him – winning the NBA title or a gold medal for his country in the Tokyo Olympics. Luka answered: “I’d say gold medal with Slovenia. You play for your country and that’s something… but I wouldn’t mind both.”
Meanwhile, it is not going to be a cakewalk for Slovenia if they are to win the Olympics gold medal. A lot will depend on the shoulders of Luka Doncic, who will want the support of his teammates.
The USA has won the last three gold medals at the Olympics in Basketball and they will once again be favorites. Teams like Serbia, Spain and Argentina can also give some competition to America.
