Former Indian opener and now a famous commentator Aakash Chopra has predicted the top six overseas performers for the upcoming season of IPL 2021. Chopra picked David Warner, Sam Curran, Nicholas Pooran, AB de Villiers, Marcus Stoinis, and Rashid Khan as the six foreign players to look out for.
David Warner has been the most successful overseas batsman in the IPL history and he is also the third-highest run-getter in the tournament. Warner has scored a total of 5254 runs in 142 IPL matches at an average of 42.72 and a strike rate of 141.54. The pugnacious left-hander had top-scored for SRH in the previous season as he had amassed 548 runs at an average of 39.14.
Chopra picked Rashid Khan as his second overseas player. Khan is known to bamboozle the best in the business and he has snared a total of 75 wickets in 62 IPL matches. The talisman leg-spinner had scalped 20 wickets in 16 matches at an average of 17.2 and a parsimonious economy rate of 5.37 in the previous season of the league.
The renowned commentator then picked English all-rounder Sam Curran. Curran also had a successful IPL 2020 for Chennai Super Kings. The left-hander scored 186 runs in 11 innings at an average of 23.25 and a strike rate of 131.91. Furthermore, he scalped 13 wickets in 14 matches of the season.
Former KKR player also selected Marcus Stoinis, who impressed with his pyrotechnics in IPL 2020. Stoinis scored 352 runs in 17 innings at an average of 25.14 and an impressive strike rate of 148.52 whereas he scalped 13 wickets in 17 matches at an average of 21.76.
Chopra picked Nicholas Pooran, who has also impressed with his hitting abilities. Pooran had scored 353 runs in 14 matches of the previous season at an average of 35.30 and a blistering strike rate of 169.71.
