Indian all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja played a key role in getting India over the line against Pakistan as he scored a fine knock at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium, Dubai on Sunday. Jadeja was promoted to number four in the batting order and he was able to grab his chance.
In fact, India found itself in a spot of bother at 89-4 in the run-chase of 148 runs. However, Jadeja and Hardik Pandya got their team out of trouble as they added 52 runs for the fifth wicket alliance.
Jadeja added that he wanted to take the attack on the Pakistan spinners and he was able to do it successfully. The left-hander scored 35 runs off just 29 balls with the help of two fours and as many sixes.
Furthermore, Hardik Pandya added the finishing touches as he scored 33 runs off just 17 balls.
“The knock was important for me since I was promoted up the batting order. I tried to take the attack to the spinners as much as possible, I looked to go for big shots,” Jadeja was quoted as saying in a video uploaded on the official Twitter handle of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) while talking to Hardik Pandya.
Jadeja added that his partnership with Hardik Pandya was very important in order to get the team over the line.
“Our partnership was very important. We talked about backing each other’s strengths and it paid off,” he stated.
On the other hand, Jadeja bowled two overs and conceded 11 runs but went wicketless.
India was able to get off to a winning start and a lot of credit goes to Hardik Pandya, Ravindra Jadeja, Virat Kohli, and Bhuvneshwar Kumar for their vital contributions with bat and ball.
The Men in Blue will look to continue the good show in the rest of the matches of the tournament. India will next face Hong Kong at the same venue on Wednesday.
