Pakistan’s experienced wicket-keeper bat Mohammad Rizwan reckons whoever handles pressure better will succeed ahead of the high-octane India versus Pakistan clash in the Asia Cup. The two old rivals will take on each other on September 2 at Pallekele in the continental tournament.
Meanwhile, India won the group-stage match against Pakistan in the 2022 Asia Cup by five wickets. However, they suffered a loss against Pakistan by the same margin in the Super Four stage of the Asia Cup.
Subsequently, India defeated Pakistan in the T20 World Cup 2022 after Virat Kohli played a magnum opus knock of 82 runs to take the team to victory from the jaws of defeat.
There is always pressure on players ahead of the big clash but it has been noticed that whichever team handles it well, goes on to win the match.
“India are also a good team, we are also a good team. India have their strengths and weaknesses, and we have too. It is a pressure match with the world watching it. According to me, a difference between the star player and a regular international player is experience. Whoever handles pressure will win the match,” Rizwan said in a snippet uploaded by Star Sports in their social media channels.
Meanwhile, the last time India and Pakistan met in ODIs was in the 2019 World Cup. India won that contest by 89 runs (DLS method) after Rohit Sharma played a brilliant knock of 140 runs off just 113 balls.
On the other hand, Mohammad Rizwan has a good record while playing against India. The right-hander scored 71 runs off just 51 balls in the Super Four stage of the Asia Cup 2022 against India.
Pakistan will play their opening game of the Asia Cup against Nepal on August 30.
