ENG vs IND 2022: Control in adjusting lengths makes Jasprit Bumrah a special bowler: Ajit Agarkar

Former Indian fast bowler Ajit Agarkar believes control in adjusting lengths makes Jasprit Bumrah the special bowler that he is. Bumrah is known to bowl according to the conditions on offer and he has got a very cool head on his shoulders.

The Indian fast bowler was just unplayable in the first ODI against England at Kennington Oval, London on Tuesday as he returned with his best ODI bowling figures of 6-19. Bumrah got the ball to swing and seam and troubled England batters throughout the innings.

The ace paceman accounted for Jason Roy, Joe Root, Jonny Bairstow, and Liam Livingstone in his first opening spell to leave the hosts tumbling at 26-5. Furthermore, Bumrah dismissed David Willey and Brydon Carse in his second spell to help India skittle out England at 110 runs. The gun pacer bowled in the right areas and he was able to get his rewards.

“You want to be as full as possible, especially with the new ball. Not everyone has that ability. The batters were also happy not to take too many chances against Bumrah. He is the sort of guy who should always look for wickets because he will get wickets,” Agarkar said while talking to Sony Sports.

Agarkar hailed Bumrah for having great control over his line and length in the first ODI against England. The conditions were perfect for fast bowling as there was grass on the pitch and there were overcast conditions, which Bumrah exploited like an expert.

“If he goes for less than 50 runs in today’s one-day cricket, it will be the wickets that will make the difference. Every time he bowls a little bit fuller, it’s his control in adjusting the lengths that makes him special,” he added.

Bumrah will look to continue the good show against England and he was just unbelievable on Tuesday. There is no doubt that Bumrah is currently the best all-format bowler in the cricket world and he continues to prove his mettle.

The second ODI between India and England will take place at the Mecca of Cricket, Lord’s on Thursday.
