Former Indian off-spinner Harbhajan Singh has predicted the four teams of the upcoming Champions Trophy 2025. Singh has named India, Pakistan, New Zealand, and Australia as the semifinalists of the marquee event.
The last edition of the Champions Trophy was played in England in 2017 as India and Pakistan had qualified for the finals. The Men in Green, led by Sarfaraz Ahmed, registered a comprehensive win of 180 runs at the Kennington Oval, London in the summit clash.
Meanwhile, South Africa, Afghanistan, England, and Australia are part of Group A whereas India, New Zealand, Pakistan, and Bangladesh are in group B for Champions Trophy 2025. The top two teams of each group will make it to the last four of the team.
But the Turbanator has mistakenly picked three teams from Group B to qualify for the semis, which can’t be possible.
“Australia and India. But you cannot take out Pakistan from such competitions and also New Zealand. So these will be the four semi-finalists according to me,” Harbhajan told CricTracker from the sidelines of DP World ILT20 2025.
On the other hand, India has picked Yashasvi Jaiswal in the Champions Trophy squad and the former off-spinner backed the selectors’ call to include the youngster despite him not yet making his ODI debut.
“I was one of the first ones to be in support of his inclusion and his getting a chance to be in the playing XI. Because if doesn’t play now then when will he play, and left-right combination is always right and if you get him at the top then it’s brilliant cause he plays freely without any pressure. He is playing very well currently and I think he should be in the XI,” Harbhajan stated.
India will begin their Champions Trophy campaign against Bangladesh in Dubai on February 20.
