India’s wicket-keeper batsman Rishabh Pant has moved into top 10 rankings for the first time in his career.
Pant has gained seven places in the rankings and he has taken the joint position with his teammate Rohit Sharma. The left-hander had scored a blistering knock of 101 runs off just 118 balls in the fourth Test match against England.
Pant scored a total of 270 runs in the four Test matches and it has helped him move upwards in the rankings. Rohit Sharma who scored a gutsy knock of 49 and scored a total of 345 runs in the series, gained one position to take the joint seventh place.
On the other hand, Washington Sundar has jumped 39 places and now occupies the 62nd rank in the batsmen rankings after the left-hander played a crucial unbeaten knock of 96 runs in the fourth Test match. Sundar missed out on a well deserved hundred but played a key role in the team’s success.
Ravichandran Ashwin and Axar Patel who breathed down the neck of the English batsmen and scalped 32 and 27 wickets respectively in the series have also gained in the latest update of the rankings.
Ashwin has moved to the second place and he has surpassed New Zealand’s gun fast bowler Neil Wagner in the rankings table. Ashwin, who also scored 189 runs in the series and thus was awarded the Player of the series for his all-around performance, has moved to the fourth place in the all-rounders rankings.
Patel, who had a dream start to his Test career, has moved up by eight places to take the 30th rank with 552 rating points.
