ICC Test rankings – Stuart Broad takes massive strides after match-winning performance

 

England’s veteran fast bowler Stuart Broad has taken massive strides in the ICC Test rankings after his match winning performance against the West Indies at Old Trafford, Manchester where he took 10 wickets in the match to play a major role in England’s win of 269 runs in the deciding match of the series, which helped the hosts clinch the series by 2-1.

Broad is now placed at the third place with 823 rating points as he made a jump of seven spots after taking 10 for 67 in the final Test whereas Jason Holder slipped by two positions to take the fifth place. In fact, Broad had achieved the third place in the rankings back in August 2016.

On the other hand, Broad also made a gain of seven places in the batsmen rankings after scoring a whirlwind knock of 62 runs off just 45 balls. Furthermore, Broad has risen three places to take the 11th place in the all-rounders list.

Meanwhile, Chris Woakes, who scalped his fourth five-wicket haul in the second innings took the 20th place in the rankings and achieved the career-best rating of 654 points.

England opener Rory Burns made a vault of 13 places as he achieved the career-best rankings of 17th place after scoring 57 and 90 at Old Trafford, to make the cut into top 20 for the first time.

Ollie Pope and Jos Buttler, who got England out of the woods in the first innings have also gained in the latest update. Pope had scored a classy knock of 91 runs in the first innings and he has made a leap of 24 places to get a career-best 46th place whereas Buttler, who was under some pressure, has risen from 50th to 44th place.

On the other side, West Indies out of form batsman Shai Hope jumped by two places to get to the 68th rank whereas Kemar Roach has gained one place to perch at the 15th position after taking four wickets in the first essay. Roach had also gone past the 200 wickets mark.
