Desert Vipers fast bowler Mohammad Amir revealed that he wanted to bowl according to the pitch and hit the right areas after his match-winning spell against Sharjah Warriorz at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium, Dubai in the ongoing ILT20 2025 on Wednesday.
The Pakistan seamer returned with impressive figures of 4-24 in 3.1 overs he bowled and played a key role in skittling out the opposition at 91. Amir accounted for Johnson Charles, Avishka Fernando, Rohan Mustafa with the new ball and then also dismissed Adam Milne.
On the other hand, Desert Vipers were able to chase down the target in 10 overs with Fakhar Zaman scoring an unbeaten 71.
Mohammad Amir said after winning the Player of the Match award, “As a new-ball bowler, try to swing if you can. I always believe you have to bowl according to the wicket and I was trying to bowl in the right areas. As a bowler you need to adapt as quickly as you can to conditions.”
Speaking on his wicket celebration, Amir said, “Last week I watched the movie Pushpa 2 and the hero used to do like that. We have got a great bowling unit, and we are performing as a unit. [on if he knew his figures were the best for the Vipers in ILT20 history] I did not know that.”
Meanwhile, the Vipers captain Lockie Ferguson shared his delight after the convincing win against the Warriorz.
The New Zealander said, “Last game we were off in all three areas, the way we bounced back was exceptional tonight. It has got nothing to do with outside pressure, T20 is like that, you need to bounce back. Hasaranga was licking his lips on such a challenging wicket.”
Desert Vipers will once again take on Sharja Warriorz at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium, Sharjah on Saturday.
