UPB Fight Club celebrates India’s 76th Republic Day with its 24th Edition on the 26th of January 2025, with some up and coming local Talents looking to make a name for themselves on the circuit and with some Pros looking to cement or establish their Legacies. After a widely successful and recognised Event in the City of Dreams Mumbai earlier this month, UPB Fight Club comes back to its Home at Delhi with an ensemble of budding and established Talents.
The Main Fight of the Night is the Super Bantamweight clash between Saurabh Kumar and Shubham Yadav for 8 Rounds. Saurabh, though has notched up two back-to-back KO victories since the comprehensive loss to Marlon Tapales in September last year, it is still weighing heavy on his Record and most certainly his self-esteem being one of India’s premier Boxing Talents. He would definitely want to cover that wound with another decisive win against Shubham, who though had a great start to his career with three back-to-back wins, seemed to lose his way after that with a string of negative results. Fans can expect Saurabh to start slow, in his typical style, and slowly grow into the Fight whilst Shubham would want to take advantage of that and cause some early damage. His best bet would be to not let Saurabh grow into the Bout and look for those openings through which he has scored those devastating KOs in his previous Fights.
The Co-Main Fight between Harsh Saroha and Pawan Kumar Arya is a 6-Round duel, also in the Super Bantamweight category. Harsh had a great start to his career last year with five wins on the trot, though he deeply regrets starting and ending the Year with draws. Pawan on the other hand is coming back after a hiatus of almost eight months since his hurtful loss in Malaysia. He is an aggressive Boxer from start-to-finish, quite opposite to how Harsh likes to measure his opponents before launching. Pawan is itching for a comeback win and Harsh would not want a blemish on his career which has now reached the runway before taking off for the higher echelons in Boxing. This is the blockbuster action of the Night and is certain to keep people glued to the screens till the end. It is certainly an absolute nail-biting action on this Republic Day.
The Middleweight duel between Gaurav Bisht and Sumit Kumar for 6 Rounds would allow the audience to see action from the heavier weight classes. These Fights are normally slower and more tactical than slam-bam seen in the lighter weight classes. Gaurav has certainly leaped ahead in his career with securing a 6-Rounder in his early days with just his second Bout against a seasoned Sumit who has an experience of 6 Bouts before this one. Gaurav would definitely want to eat up that experience with a win for his Record whereas Sumit would want to prevent that from happening. This Fight should be a classy encounter to watch for all the Fight Fans.
The 4-Round clash between Kunal Rana and Shivam Sharma in the Featherweight category, though may look a forgone conclusion but it is anything but. Shivam wasn’t fully fit in his last Bout and despite that he secured a superb win against Ayush Singh. It was one of the most memorable Bouts of last year and went on to prove the human ability to win against all odds. Kunal had debuted against Manav in last November and despite some heroic display, lost out due to not being protective against his opponent, a mistake he sure would want to amend in this Fight. And Shubham would want to counter that and secure his third win on the trot, in this one.
The Super Flyweight contest for 4-Rounds between Harsh Sharma and Mohit Kumar is an opportunity for both of them to get their careers back-on-track. Harsh would want to inflict early damage on Mohit, as all five out of his six losses have shown, in order to secure his first win. On the other hand, Mohit would want to protect himself against that very strategy and try to Fight for the full four Rounds in order to thwart any chances of facing another loss in his career.
The other Middleweight Bout for 4 Rounds between Anuj Chahal and Dinesh is open for surprises as Anuj, who is coming back after a hiatus of more than one year, would want to start the new year with a win to open his account whereas Dinesh is a surprise package and has been a winner in the Amateur circuit. This is one of the early Bouts that has the potential to set a very explosive tone for the rest of the Night as both of these would go head-to-head with each other.
The Event opener is a 4-Round Featherweight clash between debutant Gaurav Munshi and Karan Singh. Gaurav has a stellar Amateur record with Medal wins at Zonal and National competitions whereas Karan had a freak loss in his debut nine months ago, for which he would want to make amends against Gaurav. Gaurav would want to charge right from the start and protecting himself from that onslaught should be Karan’s first priority. After that, he can go for the jugular and look to record his first win on the Pro circuit. A cracking start to the evening awaits on 26th.
