Indian batter Suryakumar Yadav continued to impress as he played a match-winning knock of 69 runs off just 36 balls in the third T20I against Australia at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, Hyderabad. India was chasing a par score of 187 runs and SKY played a key hand in getting India close to the target.
SKY batted at the top of his game and used his wrist against Adam Zampa to great effect. The right-hander also played attackingly against the Australian pacers as he found the gaps to perfection.
Yadav revealed that his mindset is pretty clear as to where he wants to play and what approach he needs to adopt at the different stages of the match. The right-hander took calculated risks and played according to the field to score his runs.
Yadav scored a total of 115 runs in the three matches of the series at an average of 38.33 and a strike rate of 185.48.
SKY was awarded the Player of the Match for his fine knock. He said in the post-match presentation, “In that situation, I thought let me take my chance. I had two three shots in mind but I tried to hit over mid-off only. My mindset is pretty clear. Loving it at No. 4. There will be tough challenge but you got to express yourself and be a little smart as well.”
On the other hand, Axar Patel was India’s best bowler of the series as he scalped eight wickets in the three matches. The left-arm orthodox spinner bowled with an average of 7.88 and bowled with an impressive economy rate of 6.30. Patel bowled a straight line and he was able to reap rewards for the same.
Patel was awarded the Player of the Series as he said in the post-match presentation, “When you do well and the team wins the series, it feels great. I try to back myself with the line and lengths I bowl and even if the batter takes me on I back myself.”
India will next face South Africa in three-match T20I series at home.
