India’s fast bowler Prasidh Krishna has showered praise on Suryakumar Yadav’s leadership, stating it is similar to his uncomplicated batting style. SKY is leading India for the first time in the ongoing five-match T20I series against Australia and he has helped the team take a 2-0 lead in the series.
SKY has been spot-on with his field placements and bowling changes in the first two matches. Furthermore, he has backed his bowlers to the hilt and has given them all the freedom.
SKY is also leading from the front as he scored a match-winning knock of 80 runs off just 42 balls in the opening T20I to help India chase down 209 runs.
“It shows in the way Suryakumar Yadav bats – very similar in his captaincy as well. He trusts his players, backs all of us to do what we want to do and he’s there right behind us to support if there’s anything going wrong. That has been the name of the game and then that’s the word around freedom, go and execute your plans out there and everyone trusts each other in the team,” said Prasidh Krishna.
Meanwhile, Krishna returned with figures of 3-41 in his quota of four overs in the second T20I against Australia.
On the other hand, Krishna was added to the ODI World Cup squad after Hardik Pandya suffered an ankle injury. The Karnataka fast bowler added it was a great learning experience for him to be part of the World Cup squad despite not getting his chance in the final XI.
“Being a part of the squad was massive learning for me. That’s the biggest learning curve I’ve had since I’ve been a part of the team. I got to learn a lot the way people prepare, the amount of information that you can take.” However there is no substitute of learning by doing and Prasidh understood the difference of sitting in a World Cup dug-out and being out there and executing it for the team in pressure scenario,” said Prasidh Krishna.
The third T20I between India and Australia will be played at the Barsapara Cricket Stadium, Guwahati on Tuesday.
