India’s gun fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah was delighted after the team’s seven-wicket win against Bangladesh in the second Test match at Green Park, Kanpur on Tuesday. Bumrah lauded the team’s batting unit for their aggressive approach on the penultimate day when they scored 285-9 in only 34.4 overs after the Tigers were bundled out for a paltry score of 233.
After day two and three were washed out due to rain, India’s chances of getting a win, looked slim. However, the way Indian batters came out and took the attack to the opposition, was outstanding. Yashasvi Jaiswal and KL Rahul scored 72 and 68 runs respectively in quick time whereas Virat Kohli and Shubman Gill also contributed 47 and 39 runs respectively.
Meanwhile, Jasprit Bumrah was once again brilliant for the hosts. The ace pacer returned with impressive figures of 3-50 in the first innings and then bagged 3-17 in the second essay.
Bumrah said while talking to the host broadcasters after the win, It feels really good. I don’t think about all those adjectives (being called a magician). It is really good to get this win, we had lost a couple of days.. the way we batted yesterday and it was a test for our fitness as well as you see how hot the weather is, bowling every day and trying to create an impact, a really special win. You use your experience but it is easier said than done, because you have played a lot of cricket and played on different surfaces you find solutions, this wicket was completely different to what we got in Chennai, so quickly communicated with the others and tried to find the best option.”
He added, “I like that challenge when you go against your nature, conditions are not favourable, the wicket is not favourable, how do you get answers, all of these battles I really like. We have played a lot of cricket in India, you understand the nature of the wicket and the SG ball sometimes reverses as well but sometimes because of the humidity you are not able to keep the ball dry, so you find solutions and discuss it with other players as well.”
Bumrah will be next in action in the three-match Test series against New Zealand, beginning October 16.
