It is reported by the Times of India that Umesh Yadav and Kuldeep Yadav will likely replace Jasprit Bumrah and Washington Sundar respectively for the fourth Test against England. Bumrah will miss the fourth Test against England due to personal reasons and Umesh Yadav, who had cleared his fitness test, could get a place in the final XI.
Umesh was ruled out of the Australian tour due to a calf injury which he sustained while bowling in the second innings of the second Test match at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. On the other hand, Washington Sundar was dismissed for a blob in the previous Test match and bowled only three deliveries, in which he scalped one wicket.
Meanwhile, Kuldeep Yadav had found a place in the playing XI in the second Test match at the MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai. The wrist-spinner didn’t have to bowl a lot and scalped two wickets in the second innings.
On the other hand, it is also reported that the fourth Test match pitch will assist the spinners like the way it has done so in the previous two Test matches. The Ahmedabad track had come under scrutiny as the whole Test match was wrapped within two days.
England was bundled out for a paltry score of 112 runs in the first innings of the last Test match whereas they could only manage 81 runs in the second essay. Axar Patel was the wrecker-in-chief as he scalped a total of 11 wickets in the match. Thus, the hosts had convincingly won the previous match by 10 wickets.
Meanwhile, India will need to either win or draw the final Test match to qualify for the final of the ICC World Test Championship. New Zealand has already sealed their place for the final of the ICC WTC.
The fourth Test match will take place at the Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad from March 4.
