Indian captain Suryakumar Yadav hailed Adil Rashid after the hosts suffered a 26-run loss in the third T20I against England at the Niranjan Shah Stadium, Rajkot on Tuesday. England posted a fighting score of 171 runs on the board after Suryakumar Yadav won his third toss of the series.
It seemed like England got a below par score but the visitors’ bowlers came up with an impressive show. Sanju Samson was once again dismissed on a short-pitched delivery from Jofra Archer whereas Suryakumar Yadav’s poor form continued as he was dismissed after scoring only 14 runs.
In-form Tilak Varma was dismissed by a peach of a delivery from Adil Rashid as Indian batters struggled to rotate the strike against the seasoned leg-spinner. Rashid returned with impressive figures of 1-15 in his quota of four overs as he bowled with an economy rate of 3.80. Furthermore, Jofra Archer and Brydon Carse bagged two wickets apiece in their impressive spells.
Suryakumar Yadav said in the post-match presentation, “I felt there would be little dew later in the day. I feel we had the game in our hands when Hardik and Axar were batting. Credit goes to Adil Rashid, he bowled really well. That’s why he is a world class bowler. He didn’t allow us to rotate the strike. That’s why we had a lot of spinners in our side as well.”
SKY added there were a lot of learnings from the game and they would look to come up with an improved batting show in the upcoming matches.
The Indian skipper continued, “We always learn something from a T20 game. We got to learn from the batting point of view. Got to go back to the drawing board and learn from our mistakes. I am sure Shami will do better going forward.”
Meanwhile, Varun Chakravarthy continued his rich form as he bagged a five-wicket haul, returning with figures of 5-24 in his spell.
Showering praise on the mystery spinner, SKY concluded, “He has been working really hard during practice sessions. He is disciplined and he’s getting those results on the field as a result of that hard work.”
The fourth T20I between India and England will take place at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium, Pune on Friday.
