India will lock horns against England in the second T20I of the five-match series at the MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai on Saturday. The home team took a 1-0 lead in the five-match series after winning the opening game convincingly by seven wickets at Kolkata.
The hosts were able to tick the right boxes in the first T20I as the Indian bowlers were able to keep the opposition at bay. The visitors were skittled out for only 132 runs as Arshdeep Singh was right on the money with the new ball whereas Varun Chakravarthy was brilliant in the middle overs as he breathed down the neck of the tourists’ batters.
Abhishek Sharma scored a blistering knock of 79 runs off just 34 balls as India came up with a collective show with both bat and ball.
On the other hand, the English batters must find tough answers against the spinners as it is going to be even more challenging for them in spin-friendly conditions in Chennai. Barring Jos Buttler, who scored 68 runs, none of the England batters could get going and thus they would need to turn the tables in the second game.
Meanwhile, Jofra Archer was also brilliant with the ball as he returned with impressive figures of 2-21 in his quota of four overs.
