India will lock horns against England in the third T20I at the Niranjan Shah Stadium, Rajkot on Tuesday. The hosts took a 2-0 lead in the five-match series after winning the second game by two wickets at Chennai.
Ergo, India would look to take an impregnable lead in the series whereas England would aim to stay alive with a win. The visitors could only manage 165 runs in the second game and they would look to come up with an improved batting show in the third game.
Barring Jos Buttler, England batters haven’t been at their best in the first two matches and they must come up with a collective effort to turn the tide. However, Jamie Smith and Brydon Carse impressed in the last game but the tourists would want more from the likes of Phil Salt and Ben Duckett.
On the other hand, India was able to get over the line in the previous game after a match-winning knock of 72 runs by Tilak Varma. The youngster showed great maturity to take the game deep and batted according to the match situation.
Meanwhile, India played with four spinners in the playing XI in the previous game but the Rajkot pitch is expected to be a run-fest. Mohammed Shami hasn’t yet received a match in the ongoing series and it would be interesting to note the hosts’ selection.
