Former Indian all-rounder Irfan Pathan has stated that MS Dhoni of 2010-11 will be telling the current version of 2020 to come back with better fitness and performance in the next season of the IPL. Dhoni wasn’t seen at his best as he had returned back to action after a long gap of 14 months.
In fact, Dhoni wasn’t at the top of his fitness and he would be looking to turn the tables in the upcoming season of the IPL. Meanwhile, it is well known that MS has always paid special importance to fitness and he always wanted quick players in his team as a leader back in 2010.
Meanwhile, Dhoni could only score 200 runs in 12 innings at a paltry average of 25 and a meagre strike rate of 116.27. CSK were also knocked out of the IPL 2020 as they won only six matches out of the 14 they played and thus finished at the seventh place in the points table.
In fact, this was the first time CSK couldn’t qualify for the playoff stages in the history of the tournament whenever they have participated in the league.
Irfan Pathan said while speaking on Star Sports, “MS Dhoni will be associated with CSK till the time he wants. But if we talk about the next season alone, I was thinking in my mind after seeing MS Dhoni playing the entire season for CSK, what the captain MS Dhoni of 2010 or 2011 would be telling the MS Dhoni of 2020 in this situation. He would have said to come next year with better fitness and performance and it is clear that he will do that as well, that is the expectation.”
Meanwhile, it was speculated that the ongoing season could be the last for MS Dhoni in the IPL. Dhoni was seen giving his jerseys to the other team’s players and it was rumoured that the CSK skipper could be retiring from IPL. However, Dhoni cleared the air and he revealed that he will be part of CSK for the next couple of seasons.
Dhoni has always been known for his fighting spirit and he would look to make a roaring comeback in the next season. The wicket-keeper batsman has all the experience under his belt and he will be looking to turn the tables in 2021.
