Lucknow Super Giants assistant coach Vijay Dahiya was full of praise for Mohsin Khan, who has been super impressive in the ongoing Indian Premier League. Khan, the 23-year-old from Uttar Pradesh, has been right on the money for Lucknow Super Giants.
The lanky fast bowler bowled another superb spell against Kolkata Knight Riders at the Dr. DY Patil Sports Academy, Mumbai on Wednesday. Khan returned with impressive figures of 3-20 in his quota of four overs in a high-scoring game as LSG defended 210 and won by only two runs in the end.
The left-arm seamer gave a perfect start to his team as he dismissed Venkatesh Iyer on the fourth ball of the innings. Subsequently, he also accounted for Abhijeet Tomar, who was making his IPL debut. Furthermore, Khan got the big wicket of Andre Russell, who could only manage five runs from 11 balls.
Meanwhile, Mohsin Khan has scalped 14 wickets in nine matches of IPL 2022 at an average of 13.23 and a brilliant economy rate of 5.93. Thus, he has played an instrumental role in the success of the team.
“Mohsin Khan has been phenomenal. Sometimes, you look at the numbers if you have not watched the game, or look at the numbers in the last couple of games as well. But if you are watching and seeing what he has done, the situation that he has bowled in, according to me, he has bowled the best two overs,” Dahiya was quoted as saying in the post-match press conference.
“Barring one game, he has bowled really well. For a youngster playing his first IPL, coming back and delivering, it’s phenomenal. It speaks not only about his skills, but also his mental side,” he stated.
On the other hand, former Indian wicket-keeper gave credit to KKR batters for bouncing back in the game when all hope was lost in the massive run-chase.
“Let’s give credit where it’s due. KKR batters put our bowlers under pressure. We’ll go back and see what can be done because there is a possibility that we’ll be in the same situation. But the way they batted, a lot of credit needs to be given to them,” Dahiya added.
With this two-run win, LSG has qualified for the playoff stages.
