Rajasthan Royals batter Jos Buttler said they want to keep the momentum going after registering their fourth win on the bounce in IPL 2024 against Royal Challengers Bengaluru at the Sawai Man Singh Stadium, Jaipur on Saturday. RR won by six wickets after a dominant batting performance from Jos Buttler and Sanju Samson.
Buttler, who could not get a big score in the first three matches of the season, returned to his best, scoring an unbeaten 100 off just 58 balls. The right-hander’s sixth IPL century was laden with nine fours and four sixes.
After Yashasvi Jaiswal was dismissed without troubling the scorers, Buttler added 148 runs with skipper Sanju Samson, who scored 69 from 42 balls.
Buttler was awarded the Player of the Match for his fine knock. He said in the post-match presentation, “Had a little bit of luck, did not time it well, just got over the rope, delighted with the win. However long you’ve played the game, you still have those anxieties and stresses. The mind is a powerful thing, just keep digging in, keep working hard and you need a little bit of luck along the way.”
He added, “At some point it will be okay and sometimes you have to tell yourself it will be okay. I did feel really good in the last game, even though I got 13. I had a really good tournament in South Africa, I just felt like I needed one innings to put that to bed. We started the season really well, we have been together now for three seasons, we have got a good thing going, but we need to keep working hard and keep the momentum going.”
Buttler scored 408 runs in 11 matches of SA20 at an average of 40.80. The right-hander is one of the most dangerous batters in the shortest format and he would want to carry the good show.
For Rajasthan Royals, it has been a perfect start as they have won their four opening matches. Rajasthan Royals will next take on Gujarat Titans on Wednesday at the same venue of Sawai Man Singh Stadium, Jaipur.
