Former Australian ace pacer Brett Lee showered praise on Jasprit Bumrah and feels the fast bowler’s best is yet to come. Bumrah bowled a magical spell of 2-18 in the all-important final against South Africa as India was able to defend the target of 177, registering a thrilling seven-run win. The fast bowler accounted for Reeza Hendricks and Marco Jansen.
The gun fast bowler was at his absolute best throughout the World Cup and delivered at both ends of the innings. Bumrah bagged 15 wickets at an average of 8.26 and an economy rate of 4.17 in the eight matches of the T20I showpiece.
Bumrah returned with figures of 2-6 in the opening game against Ireland and then bowled a match-winning spell of 3-14 against arch-rivals Pakistan. The ace pacer picked 2-12 in the semifinal against England. Thus, he was awarded Player of the Tournament for his consistent performances throughout the T20I showpiece.
“Someone like a Jasprit Bumrah, he has got good pace, he’s still quick. He could bowl that line and length in Test cricket. When you give him the white ball, he can open the bowling. If you have to close it in the death overs, the guy’s chasing 12-13 at the over at the end, he bowls that swinging yorker which is almost impossible to play. He’s world-class in any era, I’m enjoying his career unfold,” Lee said on Sports Tak.
“His best is yet to come. He’s like Benjamin Button, getting better with age.”
Bumrah is not only India’s best bowler but also the best in the world, across all three formats.
The ace fast bowler has picked 89 wickets in 70 T20I matches at an average of 17.74 and a brilliant economy rate of 6.28.
