Delhi Capitals captain Rishabh Pant has revealed that their ultimate goal is to win the trophy but they are going to focus on their process.
Pant has been appointed as the captain of the team for the second phase of the tournament despite Shreyas Iyer returning to the squad after recuperating from a shoulder injury.
Delhi Capitals is yet to savor success in the IPL as they haven’t been able to go all the way. However, the team has been at its best in the last two years.
The Capitals had come up with a collective effort in the previous season and had finished as the runners-up of IPL 2020.
The Capitals are once again placed in a good position as they are at the top of the points table with six wins from eight matches and they will look to continue the good show. In fact, the Rishabh Pant-led team looks all set to make the playoff stages.
In a video posted by DC on its Twitter handle, Pant said, ‘’Our ultimate goal is to win the trophy, but we are going to focus on our process.
Hopefully, we can continue to play the way we did in the first half of the IPL 2021 season and we can go on and win the IPL trophy this year,’’
The teams have started to practice after completing their quarantine in the UAE. Pant added that it is becoming difficult to quarantine as they have been in multiple bubbles. Furthermore, the UAE conditions are hot and the Indian players are expected to take a few days to adapt to the heat as they recently traveled from England, where the weather was cold.
“I am feeling really good especially after coming out of the quarantine, it’s nice because you know nowadays, it’s getting difficult to quarantine but it’s good to see new faces love to meet the teammates.”
“In quarantine, I was just trying to sit outside in the balcony and all those things but coming to practice on the first day, it’s pretty hot out there. But, yes, getting used to the conditions. Hopefully, I can do it in two three days.”
Delhi Capitals will resume their campaign against Sunrisers Hyderabad in Dubai on September 22.
