PAK vs ENG 2022: Throughout the series, we bowled really well – Moeen Ali

England captain Moeen Ali gave credit to his bowlers after they clinched the series against Pakistan by 4-3. It was a thrilling series as most of the matches went down to the wire but the visitors had the last laugh. England won the seventh T20I of the series against the hosts by a huge margin of 67 runs and this is the first time they have won a T20I series in Pakistan.

England posted a par score of 209-3 after Dawid Malan scored 78 runs off just 47 balls with the help of eight fours and three sixes. Harry Brook added the finishing touches for the tourists as he scored 46 runs.

On the other hand, Pakistan could only manage 142 runs in the chase as Chris Woakes and David Willey took three and two wickets respectively. Both of them also bowled economical spells as they collectively conceded 48 runs in the eight overs they bowled.

Moeen Ali said in the post-match presentation, “Brilliant game from us, we played well from the start. I thought our bowling was outstanding, throughout the series we bowled really well. When the team is batting like that, it gives a lot of confidence. Credit to the boys for the way they played. We needed two must-win games. It was amazing to see how we won the last two games. Also shows the depth we have in our squad. Just want to say thank you to everyone, and the PCB for looking after us.”

Meanwhile, Pakistan skipper Babar Azam admitted that it was always going to be difficult for them to chase down 210 runs after they lost two early wickets. The hosts found themselves at 5-2 and lost both of their in-form openers – Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan.

Babar Azam said after the game, “It was definitely difficult. With 200 runs on the board, if we lose early wickets, it puts pressure on the other batters. This series was vital for us. We need to improve in the shortest format. I also mentioned at the toss, that we have a good bowling attack. Haris is bowling well, and he is improving every day. I think entire Pakistan was waiting for this, even we were happy to host England.”
