Former Australian all-rounder Tom Moody rated India’s Rohit Sharma and Australia’s David Warner as the world’s best T20 openers.
Rohit Sharma has been a consistent performer for the Indian team in the shortest format of the game.
The flamboyant batsman is the second highest run-getter in the T20I version as he has scored 2773 runs in 108 matches at an average of 32.34 and strike rate of 138.79.
Rohit has also done a fine job while playing in the Indian Premier League as he has scored 4898 runs in 188 IPL matches at an average of 31.6 and strike rate of 130.82. The stylish batsman is the solitary International batsman to score four centuries in the T20I version.
Furthermore, Rohit has led Mumbai Indians from the front taking them to four IPL titles, which is the most in history of the league. Rohit has 21 fifties in T20I cricket whereas he has scored one hundred and 36 fifties in the IPL.
On the other hand, Australia’s southpaw batsman David Warner has done a fine job in the shortest form of the game. The pugnacious left-hander has scored 2207 runs in the T20I fold at an average of 31.53 and a blistering strike rate of 140.48 with the help of one century and 17 half-centuries. Moreover, Warner has done a fine job in the IPL while playing for Sunrisers Hyderabad in the last few seasons.
The combative batsman has amassed 4706 runs in 126 IPL matches at an average of 43.17 and a staggering strike rate of 142.39. Warner has scored four IPL centuries and 44 fifties in IPL. Thus, there is no doubt that Rohit Sharma and David Warner will make a deadly opening combination in T20 cricket.
When Tom Moody was asked about the two best T20 opening batsmen on Twitter, the Australian said it was a tough call but he will go with Warner and Sharma. Moody wrote, “Tough call, but I would be more than happy with @davidwarner31 and @ImRo45”.
