India’s ODI opener Shikhar Dhawan has picked MS Dhoni as his favourite Indian captain. Dhawan also named his opening teammate, Rohit Sharma as his favourite batting partner. The southpaw believes Indian captain Virat Kohli is currently the best Indian batsman. Furthermore, he revealed that Mitchell Starc is the toughest bowler he has faced in his career so far.
Meanwhile, MS Dhoni is regarded as the most successful Indian captain. Dhoni led India in 332 matches across the three formats in which the team won 178 and lost 120. The former skipper had a winning percentage of 53.61.
On the other hand, Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan have enjoyed batting with each other. Both of them share a great bonhomie and they have scored 4487 runs in 109 ODI innings at an average of 44.87.
There is no doubt that Virat Kohli is not only the best Indian batsman but also he is considered as the best batsman in the world. Kohli is the most consistent batter and has scored more than 21000 runs and has racked up 70 centuries.
Mitchell Starc is one of the best fast bowlers in the world and the left-arm pacer has breathed down the neck of the opposition batsmen. Starc is mostly right on the money and he can trouble the batsman with his pace and skill to execute the perfect yorker.
“(Best batting partner will be) Rohit Sharma… I have only played under Virat and Dhoni, so, as of now, Dhoni bhai,” Shikhar Dhawan said in an Instagram interaction with Irfan Pathan.
On the other hand, Dhawan feels the IPL should take place once the coronavirus situation improves. The tournament is postponed indefinitely by the Indian board and there is uncertainty over it. Dhawan added people will feel positive with IPL as there is a lot of fear because of Covid-19.
“Of course, IPL should take place because people will get positivity from it. Currently, there is only coronavirus news and fear because of it,” Dhawan said.
Shikhar Dhawan will be seen playing for Delhi Capitals if the IPL goes ahead in 2020. The southpaw will look to hit the ground running once he gets back to action.
