T20 World Cup 2021: Looking forward to chewing MS Dhoni’s brain about cricket, captaincy – KL Rahul

India’s opener KL Rahul is looking forward to the opportunity to play under the mentorship of MS Dhoni in the ongoing T20 World Cup.

Rahul stated that he will look to pick Dhoni’s brain in the tournament. Dhoni has all the experience under his belt and he would look to bring the best out of the players as a mentor.

The former Indian captain is well known for his phlegmatic approach and he will look to deliver the goods for the team. Dhoni is regarded as one of the shrewdest minds in the game and he has often turned matches with his astute captaincy.

Thus, Dhoni’s presence will give a lot of confidence to the young players in the T20 World Cup. The Chennai Super Kings captain also won his fourth IPL title as a leader recently.

Meanwhile, Rahul added that Dhoni brings a sense of calmness in the dressing room and he is looking forward to learning from him.

Speaking at a Clubhouse session conducted by Red Bull, Rahul said: “We loved having him in the dressing room when he was the captain, we loved the calmness. We have all looked up to him to help us out, to have him here is amazing.

“This gives us a sense of calmness, I have enjoyed spending time with him in the first two to three days and it has been a lot of fun. Looking forward to chewing his brain about cricket, captaincy, and all things cricket.”

Rahul added that it feels amazing to have MS Dhoni back in the dressing room. The Karnataka batter also wants MS to continue playing in the IPL for a few more years.

“None of us are sure that IPL 2021 final was his last game. I do not think, I would love to see MS Dhoni play for a lot more years if he could. Yeah, it was great to see how CSK played in the tournament and they were the most deserving to win it.

“Obviously, MS Dhoni back with the team feels amazing because we have played under him and we have looked towards him as a mentor even when he was our captain.”

“I think Dhoni can give any of us stiff competition, he definitely is a guy who can hit the ball furthest, he is very strong and he is good between the wickets. He looks at at the hitters. It is good fun to have him,” said Rahul.

Meanwhile, KL Rahul has been in sublime form as he scored 626 runs in 13 matches for Punjab Kings in IPL 2021. Rahul continued his good form as he scored 51 runs off just 24 balls in the warm-up match against England on Monday.

India will play their opening match of the T20 World Cup against Pakistan on 24th October.
