India’s young fast bowler Arshdeep Singh was delighted after he produced a fine spell of bowling against Pakistan at the Melbourne Cricket Ground in the T20 World Cup 2022 on Sunday after the national team won by four wickets.
Singh was right on the money from the get-go and bowled in the right areas to get his rewards. The left-arm pacer plumed Pakistan captain Babar Azam in front of the wickets on the first ball he bowled in the World Cup event.
Subsequently, the 23-year-old also dismissed Pakistan’s in-form batter Mohammed Rizwan with a short-pitched delivery. Singh then bowled a snorter to get rid of Asif Ali at the fag end of the innings.
The left-arm pacer scalped three wickets and conceded 32 runs in the four overs he bowled against Pakistan and did a fine job for his team at both end of the innings.
“We are just enjoying our game. I didn’t work too much on myself, just trying to keep things simple as much as possible. The atmosphere of the team is very good. We enjoy each other’s success and if a player has a bad day, we always stand by him, so it helps a lot,” Arshdeep Singh said after the match.
“Very happy with my bowling. We were talking from the beginning itself that we will take wickets in the starting and will restrict Pakistan from scoring big runs. All credit goes to our batters for the way they finished the game, especially Virat Kohli,” Arshdeep added.
Meanwhile, the Indian seamers did a fine job for the team. Bhuvneshwar Kumar conceded only 22 runs while Mohammed Shami gave away 25 runs in their quota of four overs. Hardik Pandya also took three crucial wickets and conceded 30 runs in his quota of overs.
On the other hand, Virat Kohli played a sensational knock of unbeaten 82 runs to help his team get over the line in a thrilling run-chase. Kohli added a brilliant stand of 113 runs off 78 balls with Hardik Pandya and the duo played an instrumental role in getting India over the line.
India will take on the Netherlands in their second match of the T20 World Cup at the SCG on Thursday.
