Former Indian Test opener Aakash Chopra reckons Virat Kohli is not out of form but he is just out of runs right now. Kohli was dismissed for a golden duck against the USA at the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium, New York on Wednesday, which is his first time in the T20 World Cup.
Kohli got an outside edge against Saurabh Netravalkar on the first ball of the innings when he was looking to push at the ball in the run-chase of 111.
Kohli has returned with scores of 1 against Ireland, 4 against Pakistan, and 0 against the USA in the ongoing T20I showpiece. However, the talisman was once again at his absolute best for RCB, scoring 741 runs in 15 innings at an average of 61.75 and a strike rate of 154.69 in IPL 2024 but he hasn’t been able to replicate the same form in the T20I showpiece.
Aakash Chopra said on his YouTube Channel, “In the run chase, Virat Kohli got out in the first over itself. It’s been three matches and Virat has been dismissed off deliveries outside off-stump all three times – once in the deep off Mark Adair’s bowling, once at point off Naseem Shah’s bowling, and Saurabh Netravalkar here.”
“You think whether everything is right. I was saying before the last match as well and I am saying after this match too that I am not worried. I am bullish that Virat Kohli will score runs as he is not out of form, he is just out of runs right now,” Chopra stated.
The renowned commentator is optimistic that Kohli will score runs against Canada at Florida.
“He went there with the form of more than 700 runs. His bat hasn’t struck the ball that well here, runs haven’t come from the bat, but the story has ended here. Now they will be going to Lauderhill, which means when the match happens in Florida, we will be alright there. I feel Virat Kohli will score runs there,” he said in the same video.
India will next take on Canada at the Central Broward Regional Park Stadium Turf Ground, Lauderhill, Florida on Saturday.
