T20 World Cup: India must have taken a lot of positives from recent batting performances, says Sanjay Bangar

India’s former batting coach Sanjay Bangar reckons the team must have taken a lot of positives from their recent batting performances while going into the T20 World Cup. India’s top order has done a fantastic job in the recent past as they delivered in the T20I series against Australia and South Africa.

There were doubts over KL Rahul’s strike rate but he scored a brilliant knock of 57 runs off just 28 balls in the second T20I against the Proteas whereas Rohit Sharma has been in decent form.

Virat Kohli has returned back to his best and he has been scoring consistently since the Asia Cup. Furthermore, Suryakumar Yadav is in the form of his life as he is playing out of this world.

On the other hand, Hardik Pandya and Dinesh Karthik have delivered while providing the finishing touches for the team at the fag end of the innings.

“The spirits will be really high. I’m pretty sure that the Indian team must have taken a lot of positives from the way the batting has performed,” Bangar said while speaking on Star Sports show ‘Cricket Live’.

However, Bangar feels the form of the bowling unit is a concern. The fast bowlers have been expensive as they have failed to hit the right areas in the death overs.

“Harsh lesson for the bowlers, but it’s good that it has come in this phase wherein there is time to think about it, re-draw their plans, go forward and play their best cricket in Australia,” Bangar said.
India will begin their Super 12 campaign in the T20 World Cup against Pakistan at the MCG. Both of these teams recently clashed in the Asia Cup with India winning the first game and Pakistan winning the Super Four stage match.

India squad for ICC T20 World Cup: Rohit Sharma (c), KL Rahul (vc), Virat Kohli, Suryakumar Yadav, Deepak Hooda, Rishabh Pant (wk), Dinesh Karthik (wk), Hardik Pandya, R. Ashwin, Yuzvendra Chahal, Axar Patel, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Harshal Patel, Arshdeep Singh.

Standby players -Mohammed Shami, Shreyas Iyer, Ravi Bishnoi, Deepak Chahar.
