Former England skipper Michael Vaughan reckons Eoin Morgan-led team will be the favorites for the T20 World Cup as they have absolutely got everything covered.
The English team is well known to play fearless cricket and they have taken giant strides in the limited-overs format in the last five years.
England have been coming up with collective efforts as they are ticking the right boxes in the white-ball version. The Eoin Morgan-led team decimated Sri Lanka by 3-0 in the ODI series and then won the T20I series by 2-0. Subsequently, their second-string team defeated Pakistan by 3-0 in the ODI series in their home conditions.
England have a potent batting unit and they have shown the skills to chase down any total. In fact, all the English batsmen can hit the ground running and players like Jason Roy, Jonny Bairstow, Eoin Morgan, Ben Stokes and Jos Buttler are well known for their pyrotechnics.
“England have put themselves in a great position [to win the T20 World Cup because they’ve got absolutely everything covered,” Michael Vaughan said after the second T20I between England and Pakistan.
On the other hand, Vaughan heaped praise on Liam Livingstone and stated that the right-hander is becoming a class act. Livingstone scored a fine knock of 102 runs off just 43 balls in the first T20I against Pakistan and gave a glimmer of hope to the team. Livingstone continued his good form in the second T20I as he smashed 38 runs off just 23 balls in the second T20I against the visitors.
Vaughan added, “He’s becoming a class act. The hundred he got on Friday will have given him a huge amount of confidence and he was well on his way again today before he was run out.”He’s one we’re going to see a lot of over the next few years.”
Meanwhile, England was able to level the series 1-1 as they won the second game by a big margin of 45 runs after losing the first match by 31 runs.
The second T20I will be played at Old Trafford, Manchester on Tuesday.
