Former Pakistan opening batsman Salman Butt has rated Indian skipper Virat Kohli as the most impactful batsman across formats.
Kohli has been a consistent performer in all the three formats of the game and his record speaks for himself.
The right-hander has delivered the goods in all the conditions and he is one of the best batsmen of the current era.
In fact, Kohli is the solitary batsman to have an average of more than 50 in all the three formats of the game, which proves how consistent he has been in the last decade. Kohli’s record in the limited-overs is impeccable and he is one of the best chasers in the game.
Kohli has amassed 5388 runs in 89 ODI matches at a splendid average of 96.21 in India’s successful run-chases. The talisman has scored 22 centuries in the run-chases in which India has won.
“I believe Virat Kohli is the most impactful batsman in the world across all formats. There is no doubt about that. His performances speak for themselves and have turned the results in his team’s favour,” Butt said during a Q/A session on his YouTube channel.
Kohli has batted at the top of his game in the last decade and he has done a fine job in all the conditions. On the other hand, Butt had earlier backed Kohli to break his century drought. Kohli had scored his last International hundred back in 2019 in the pink-ball Test match against Bangladesh.
“He’s broken so many barriers already. Who could have thought that a boy his age will get 70 centuries? Who would have thought that he would become as fit as he is today, or carry the kind of form that he has? He has a strike rate of 90 in chases, an average of over 50 in all three formats.
Who would have thought? These are barriers he’s already crossed. Who can stop him from crossing this barrier? In fact, he can do it in the next match or the next series itself,” Butt said.
Virat Kohli will lead India in the upcoming ICC World Test Championship final against New Zealand, which will take place at Ageas Bowl, Southampton from June 18.
