World Cup 2023: This is not the type of Pakistan team we used to play – Sourav Ganguly slams Pakistan batting after loss to India

Former Indian captain Sourav Ganguly has slammed Pakistan after their lackluster batting display against India at the Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad on Saturday. Pakistan was skittled out for a meager score of 191 runs after they were put into bat by Indian skipper Rohit Sharma.

In fact, Pakistan was going strongly at 155-2 but they lost the remaining eight wickets for only 36 runs in a space of 13 overs as they crumbled like a pack of cards. Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan added 81 runs but Pakistan veered off the track after they lost both of their experienced batters.

India came up with a collective bowling show as Jasprit Bumrah, Kuldeep Yadav, Hardik Pandya, Mohammed Siraj, and Ravindra Jadeja bagged two wickets apiece. Bumrah was awarded Player of the Match for his fine bowling figures of 2-19.

Meanwhile, during Ganguly’s time, Pakistan had a potent batting unit as they had batters like Saeed Anwar, Inzamam-ul-Haq, Shahid Afridi, Younis Khan, and Mohammad Yousuf. However, currently, the team is over-reliant on the shoulders of Mohammad Rizwan and Babar Azam.

Sourav Ganguly said as quoted by Times Now, “During our time Pakistan was a different team, this is not the type of Pakistan team we used to play. This team can’t handle the pressure during the batting. It will be hard for Pakistan to come back in this World Cup with this batting.”

On the other hand, Indian skipper Rohit Sharma played a whirlwind knock of 86 runs off just 63 balls. The talisman took the attack against the Pakistan bowlers and played at his absolute best.

Ganguly showered praise on the veteran, stating, “Rohit played superbly against Pakistan. India’s every department is doing well. Batting, bowling, and fielding is firing together and at the right time.”

India will next take on Bangladesh at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium, Pune on Thursday.
