WTC Final: New Zealand to focus on fast bowling – Kane Williamson

New Zealand skipper Kane Williamson has stated that his team will focus on fast bowling. The Kiwis have a potent pace battery under their belt and they will look to trouble the Indian batsmen.

The Kane Williamson-led also have variety in their bowling attack, which will play a crucial role in the big match.

Trent Boult and Tim Southee can get the ball to move both ways and they will look to make the most of the English conditions. Boult can get the ball to move back into the right-handers whereas Southee can move it away from the right-handers. Neil Wagner is known to hit the deck hard and can bowl long spells for the team.

On the other hand, Kyle Jamieson can extract good bounce from the surface and he will make good use of his height. Matt Henry scalped six wickets in the second Test match against England and can cause problems with his extra pace.

bowlingIn a video posted on the International Cricket Council (ICC) website, Williamson said on Friday that, “For us we want to focus on the cricket that we want to play. It’s important to our team to go out there and enjoy the occasion. A number of guys that have been playing well, same bowlers that have been contributing really well for a period of time, which is great,” said Williamson, indicating that the New Zealand fast-bowling battery will come hard at India over the next few days.

“There is some depth in that (bowling) department, which is very important to our team, so there’ll be some tricky but good conversations to have in finalising them (bowlers). There’s been a lot of growth in our side over a period of time, so many challenges along the way every day and the World Test Championship final is a culmination of that,” said Williamson.

New Zealand are better prepared and they have one of the best bowling line-up which can certainly trouble the Indian batsmen. The WTC final will begin from today at the Ageas Bowl, Southampton.
