Former Indian opener Aakash Chopra is expecting Virat Kohli to come up with a coup de grace in the Oval Test match against England. India has England on the mat as they currently lead by 171 runs and still have seven wickets in hand. It is expected that India could go on to win the fourth Test if they get a lead of anything above 275 runs.
Meanwhile, Rohit Sharma scored a piece de resistance knock of 127 runs whereas Cheteshwar Pujara scored a fine knock of 61 runs as both of them added 154 runs. Thus, India was able to put its noses in front despite coming from behind as England had taken a crucial lead of 99 runs.
India will want to strengthen their grip on the match and Virat Kohli is going to hold the key. Kohli has scored fifties in the last two innings and he has shown signs of coming back into form. The Indian team is in a commanding position and Kohli will look to add the winning punch for his side.
Aakash Chopra said on his YouTube Channel, “According to me, it is Virat Kohli. The stage is big and this player is the head. You need a bit more from him to give the winning punch. He has scored half-centuries in his last two innings and the form seems to be coming closer.”
“He is still walking slightly towards the off-stump but it doesn’t matter because there is not that much pace on the wicket and these fast bowlers are also not that sharp. So if he manages the first 30-45 minutes, I feel Kohli will be fine.”
Chopra predicted that Kohli will score a fifty in the second innings. The talisman is batting unbeaten on 22 runs and had played some flamboyant drives in the fag end of day three.
“I feel Kohli will score a fifty. He is batting very well, he has played some sumptuous drives. The second new ball, I want him to keep standing, there is some greed also there apart from cricketing logic.”
India will look to continue their domination and the batting unit will aim to put as much as they can on the board to strengthen their grip.
