Younis Khan named Pakistan’s batting coach for England tour

Pakistan Cricket Board has named former skipper Younis Khan as their batting coach for the England tour. Pakistan will play three Test matches and as many T20Is in England in August and Khan will assist the batters. The former right-hander has all the experience under his belt and it will certainly help the Pakistan’s batsmen.

Pakistan already has an impressive coaching staff and Younis will add a spark to it. Misbah-ul-Haq is the chief coach of the side whereas Waqar Younis will take care of the bowling unit. Furthermore, Mushtaq Ahmed, the former leg-spinner will serve as the spin coach and a mentor to the team.

Younis is thrilled to be appointed as the batting coach and stated it is an honour. The former right-hander added that he and the support staff will try to get the best out of every player.

“For me, there has never been a bigger honour and a better feeling than to represent my country and I feel privileged to have been again offered the opportunity to serve it for a challenging but exciting tour of England,” said Younis Khan about his appointment.

“The Pakistan side includes some immensely talented cricketers who have the potential to achieve greater heights. Together with Misbah-ul-Haq, Mushtaq Ahmed and Waqar Younis, we will try to make them better and prepare them as best as we can with on and off field coaching and guidance.

Meanwhile, Younis Khan had a great record while playing in the English conditions. It is never easy to savour success in England as the ball moves miles in the air and the pitches also provide the assistance to the bowlers. The talisman had scored 810 runs while playing in England in 16 innings and thus his experience of batting in swinging conditions will help the team.

Pakistan will tour after the completion of the West Indies tour. PCB has also confirmed that they send additional players on the tour. In fact, the West Indies have also announced the list of 11 reserve players which might be needed in the Covid-19 era.

Meanwhile, there will be some young batsmen in the Pakistan squad, who would be touring England for the first time. Thus, Younis Khan will have his job cut out and he will aim to guide them on the right path as it is not easy to hit the ground running in England.

Younis Khan had an illustrious Test career as he scored 10099 runs in 118 Test matches at an impressive average of 52.06 and thus he is the right man for the Pakistan’s batters.
