Chelsea’s manager Thomas Tuchel has named a 25-man squad for the UEFA Champions league final against Manchester City. N’Golo Kante and Edouard Mendy had returned to training on Thursday after injury concerns which they faced in the last two premier league matches.
‘N’Golo is looking good and I hope he stays like that for Saturday,’ said Tuchel. ‘Edou made a huge improvement with the management of pain from when the injury happened, which is good. We hope to have him back. If he is fit, then Edou will play.’
Meanwhile, the first leg of the semi-final between Chelsea and Real Madrid had ended in a 1-1 draw. Subsequently, Chelsea registered a 2-0 win in the second leg to book their berth in the final of the UEFA Champions league. Chelsea had last won the Champions League title back in 2012 when they defeated Bayern Munich by 4-3 on penalties.
On the other hand, Manchester City have qualified for the final for the first time in their history. City are on a dream run as they have won seven matches on the bounce in the UEFA Champions league, which is the longest streak for any English club in European championship. City had also recently won the English Premier League title. Thus, the City will look to clinch their maiden Champions League title.
The final will take place from 12:30 AM IST on 29th May at Estádio do Dragão, Portugal
