FC Goa Technical Staff hit by stone during Kerala Blasters game; club decides to raise complaint

The Indian Super League is heating up with every week’s action and the last game between FC Goa and Kerala Blasters saw two top sides go head to head in a very exciting clash. Although the hosts, Kerala Blasters won the match 3-1 there were some heated instances on the field and also off the field.

FC Goa have lodged a complaint with the league after a member of the technical staff was hit by a stone while he was helping the players to warm up by the sidelines.

The Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Kochi was filled to the raptors and they enjoyed their win over FC Goa as Adrian Luna and Dimitris Diamantakos scored in the first half whereas Ivan Kalyuzhny a worldie from distance to seal three points for the Blasters. The Gaurs scored a consolation via Noah Sadaoui but it was not enough for Carlos Pena’s men. The visitors were good in patches but never managed to impose themselves on the hosts. Pena agreed that his team did not press the Blasters high enough as there was too much space to work with for the likes of Diamantakos, Luna and Kalyuzhny and hence they secured a very important win. \

However FC Goa’s concerns after the game were different as they lodged a complaint regarding the safety of the away team and its supporters. Hence the Gaurs have called for an enquiry regarding the incident involving the FC Goa technical staff.

“The club has reported an incident to the League and the home team regarding the safety of the club staff where a member of the technical team was hit by a stone while helping the substitute players warm up,” FC Goa said in a statement.

“FC Goa has requested the Kerala Blasters’ management to conduct an inquiry into the matter,” the club added.

The Gaurs informed on social media how they are coordinating with Kerala Blasters expressing their concerns with regards to security on the away stand. FC Goa highlighted how there were unsavoury incidents among the home and away fans and these things can be easily avoided.

“FC Goa would like to communicate that the club has written to the Kerala Blasters management expressing concerns in regard to security that was provided to the club and our travelling supporters during our latest game in Kochi on Sunday.

“The club has highlighted particularly the issues faced in the ‘Away Stand’ which had a large presence of home fans, which led to unsavoury incidents which the club believes could have been easily avoided.”

FC Goa will next face ATK Mohun Bagan at home on 20th November as Carlos Pena and his men will be looking to get back to winning ways. Currently the Gaurs are fourth in the points table whereas the Mariners are a place ahead of them.
