Happy with the boys who have been working hard: East Bengal FC head coach Carles Cuadrat

East Bengal FC head coach Carles Cuadrat is happy with the players who have been working hard ahead of the Hero Indian Super League 2023-24 season. The Spaniard, who has all the experience of coaching in the ISL, will look to hit the ground running and get the best out of his players.

He has already laid a road map for the players and he is happy to notice the team’s progress ahead of the new season. Earlier in May, Cuadrat was appointed as East Bengal FC’s head coach.

Cuadrat started as the assistant coach of Bengaluru FC in 2016 and led them to glory in the Federation Cup. The Blues also won the inaugural Hero Super Cup and became the first Indian club to play AFC Cup final.

Subsequently, after savoring success as the assistant coach, Cuadrat was promoted to the head coach role of Bengaluru FC in 2018. Under his tutelage, BFC became the first team in Hero ISL history to top the league and win the trophy in the same year.

“The way people welcomed us at the airport, and after that, everything has been going in the right direction, working very well with the management, with the staff, with the players, so it’s a good feeling,” Cuadrat spoke in an interaction with East Bengal FC.

“It has been great (at) training (sessions), I’m really happy with the boys who have been working really hard. Sometimes we have to stop them because of the intensity of the training but it’s a good sign,” he added.

Meanwhile, East Bengal FC hasn’t been able to deliver in the Hero ISL as a unit. The club arrived in the league back in the 2020-21 season but have ended in the second half of the points table in all three editions.

In the 2022-23 season, the Red and Gold brigade finished at ninth place with six wins in 20 matches, which was their best performance since their arrival in the tournament.

The gaffer is confident of turning the tables and doing a good job for the club in the upcoming season.

“Really happy for the season to start, just waiting for the rest of the players to come. We are going to do a good job,” he concluded.
