    Indian Football Team Supports Fight Against Coronavirus Pandemic Financially

    Amidst the fight against further spread of the novel COVID-19 (Coronavirus), players of the India national football team have made financial contributions to help against the pandemic.

    Captain of the Blue Tigers Sunil Chhetri made the information public on Tuesday, albeit stating that the amount of Money donated by the team is undisclosed.

    However, the donated cash Chhetri said has been transferred to the team has the PM-Cares Fund.

    The player stated that footballers have always been getting more than they can give therefore making it imperative that they at this point in time come together, players in the national team, to donate a certain amount of money which has been given to PM-Cares Fund to help in the drive and fight against COVID-19 pandemic.

    In the statement which he released in a string of tweets he posted on his Twitter handle, he stated that it is a thing of happiness that individuals irrespective of age, goals, experience, and caps giving with joy in the face.

    Furthermore, he revealed that the action had made even retired internationals and those who have been out of the national team for a long time come up and join in by contributing.

    Chhetri still wishes that their act will initiate the will give out during this period from others who have more than enough to give out.

    “The ONLY reason we’re talking about this here is so that it can gently prod those who have been fortunate enough to get, to give back. We’re in this together.” Chettri stated.

    India’s remaining two 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifiers initially scheduled for March as well as June have been suspended due to the Coronavirus pandemic.

    India currently is observing a 21-day lockdown coronavirus that has inflicted 35 deaths in over 1000 recorded cases.
