ISL 2021-22: I am not happy with our game, we defended really badly – Hyderabad FC’s Manuel Marquez despite win against FC Goa

Hyderabad FC head coach Manuel Marquez was not happy with his team’s win despite a 3-2 win over FC Goa in the 95th match of the ongoing Hero Indian Super League at the Athletic Stadium, Bambolim on Saturday. This win takes Hyderabad FC inch closer to the semifinal slot as they are at the top of the standings with nine wins from 17 matches and they have a total of 32 points under their bag.

Bartholomew Ogbeche scored a brace for Hyderabad FC as he continued his rich form for the team. Furthermore, Joao MJT scored for Hyderabad FC in the 70th minute of the game to give a 3-1 lead to his team.

However, Marquez reckons the team’s defending was not up to the mark and they need to pull up their socks in the fag end of the tournament.

Manuel Marquez said in the post-match press conference, “In the last games now the important thing is the victory because if we spoke about other things I’m not happy with our game. We defended very badly. Maybe we know that they have very good players, but I think that we defend the worst in the championship. But of course, I repeat in this moment the important thing are the three points and continue fighting for the top four which is close, but still three games with very good opponents now”.

The Spaniard added that the goal is finish among the top four teams for the first time in the history of the team in the ongoing tournament.

He added, “I know that we are on top but it’s not the real table because when COVID canceled some games and the championship has 11 teams then there is one team who rests every round and we have one game more than some teams, one game less than another then of course we are on top. We are very happy. I think that the season is fantastic for Hyderabad FC and now we need to finish the competition in the top four. At this moment, the goal is to finish in the top four for the first time in the history of Hyderabad FC”.

In fact, Hyderabad had only 43% of the possession and they took four shots on target. On the other hand, FC Goa took seven shots on target.

Speaking on the possession, Marquez added, “When you play against FC Goa, usually they have the ball. I think that our team if we compare with last season, we have less possession but for example today was another game where we scored without creating many chances and I think that I repeat I’m not happy with the with the game but I’m very happy with the win of course and maybe I don’t reply your question but is about now. The important thing is to win the game.

Hyderabad FC will next face Kerala Blasters FC at the same venue of Athletic Stadium, Bambolim on Wednesday.
