ATK Mohun Bagan striker Manvir Singh has ticked the right boxes in the ongoing Hero Indian Super League. Singh had scored the second goal against NorthEast United in the second-leg semi-final with a brilliant finish with the left-foot. Manvir’s goal turned out to be decisive as the Mariners won the second leg by 2-1 (aggregate 3-2).
The 25-year old from Punjab has been at his best in this season and feels it has been the best ISL season for him. Manvir has scored six goals in the ongoing season, which is the second-best for any Indian player in this edition behind Bengaluru FC skipper Sunil Chhetri, who scored a total of eight goals.
Not only Manvir has consistently found the back of the net for the Mariners but he has worked in tandem with David Williams and Roy Krishna and has provided three assists for his team.
“This season is the best season for me. I have scored goals and have assisted also. The pre-season at Minerva Punjab (now RoundGlass Punjab) helped me a lot this season. I am giving my 100% in every training session and it shows in the match,” he had said ahead of ATK Mohun Bagan’s semi-final clash against NorthEast United FC.
On the other hand, Manvir had made the move from FC Goa to ATK Mohun Bagan before this season. Manvir had played in 47 matches for the Gaurs in the last three seasons but could only find his name in the starting XI on seven occasions. However, he has received consistent opportunites at ATK Mohun Bagan and credited head coach Antonio Lopez Habas for the same.
“For me, he is the best coach. His plans are perfect. He knows when to attack and how to defend. He knows how to make the players who are not playing or on the bench happy. I think he is the best coach,” Manvir opined.
Manvir added that he works hard with Roy Krishna and David Williams and both of these strikers have helped him lift his game.
“We work a lot in the training. Roy [Krishna], [David] Williams and me, whoever is in the attacking unit, we work together on our attacking,” he said.
