Chennaiyin FC continues to add strength to their team ahead of the next season of the Hero Indian Super League 2022-23. The Marina Machans have announced the signing of midfielder Sourav Das on a two-year contract, thus he will be part of the club till the 2024 season.
The 25-year-old has the experience of playing for top clubs like Mumbai City FC, Mohun Bagan, and SC East Bengal. Das’ inclusion will add more power to Marina Machans’ midfield as he will join hands with players like Anirudh Thapa and youngster Jiteshwor Singh.
The youngster will be making a move to Chennaiyin FC from SC East Bengal, whom he represented in the last two seasons of the Hero ISL. Das made 18 appearances for SC East Bengal in the previous season and made 66 tackles and 25 interceptions. The defensive midfielder also played eight matches for Mumbai City FC in his two-year stint with the Islanders.
Das is Chennaiyin FC’s fifth signing before the next season of the tournament.
CFC co-owner Vita Dani said: “We are very happy to welcome hard working and combative midfielder Sourav Das to Chennaiyin FC. He has impressed at the three clubs that he has played for so far and we are confident that he can carry over that quality into next season with us.”
Das is delighted to join Chennaiyin FC and he will look to give his best to the club in the next season.
“I am very happy to have joined the Chennaiyin FC family. It is a great club with great achievements—two times ISL champions. I am looking forward to playing in front of the fans and win many trophies with the club. I want to thank everyone in the management for putting their faith in me. I promise them and all the fans that I will put my every bit into training and matches and fight hard. AllInForChennaiyin!”
On the other hand, Chennaiyin FC could not qualify for the semifinal stages in the previous season as they only managed five wins in their 20 league stage matches. Thus, they finished at the eighth place in the points table and they will be determined to turn the tables in the next season.
