Spanish coach Juan Ferrando will lead India Super League side FC Goa into the 2020-2021 ISL season after he was brought in to the side as announced by the club side on Thursday.
Fernando was at the helm of the affairs at Volos NFC in Greece, where he led the club to the top flight in 2019 after he ensured back to back promotions from the third division. He was only appointed to the side in 2017.
He left the side this January, and he also has experience in Spain after he was part of the backroom staff at Malaga while also taking charge of the youth side at some point.
Goa was previously handled by Sergio Lobera, who was eventually sacked on the first of February after leading the club to a top of the table finish in the ISL.
Clifford Miranda took his post on a temporary basis for the remainder of the season and the Indian Super League playoffs.
“I am so incredibly excited to become part of the FC Goa family. I have been greatly impressed by the club’s emphasis on their vision and style of play, and I would like to thank the club for giving me this opportunity.” Juan Ferrando was quoted.
The manager is also impressed with the fan base of the club and has promised to ensure the team plays attractive football as well as getting successful in terms of trophy.
Meanwhile, Akshay Tandon, who is the president of Goa FC, stated his pleasure at bringing in the Manger to the club. He stated that the club went for a manager who shares the club’s philosophy vision and hunger for success.
“He has had success wherever he has been and has made an impact on players playing at the very highest level. Our focus now will be to lend our full support to Juan in the days to come.” Akshay was quoted.
