Defender Nikhil Prabhu has moved permanently on a two-year contract to Odisha FC, the club revealed on Wednesday. Prabhu was on loan at Odisha FC from Hyderabad FC for the second half of the Hero Indian Super League 2021-22 season.
The 21-year-old had played three matches for Odisha FC in the last season of the Hero ISL. Prabhu will now be seen in Odisha jersey for the next two seasons and his contract can also be extended by a year.
“Odisha FC would like to announce that Nikhil Prabhu has completed a permanent move from Hyderabad FC for an undisclosed fee. He joins on a 2-year deal with an option to extend for a further year,” the club said in a statement on their official website.
Meanwhile, Nikhil Prabhu played in various local clubs in Mumbai before joining FC Pune City academy in 2019. He represented the Hyderabad FC reserve team before getting a call from the first team for Hero ISL 2021-22.
The 21-year-old will look to grab his chances for Odisha FC and it will be interesting to note his performances. Nikhil didn’t get a lot of chances for Hyderabad FC and he would be determined to prove his mettle while playing for Odisha FC.
The youngster is well known for playing in different positions as a defender and he will look to bring his best in the next season of the tournament.
On the other hand, Odisha FC finished at seventh position in Hero ISL 2021-22 standings with six wins and a total of 23 points in their 20 league stage matches. Thus, they failed to qualify for the semifinal stages and they will be determined to turn the tables in the next season.
