Mohun Bagan Super Giant head coach Jose Molina was delighted with the performance of the team after their convincing 4-0 win against Mohammedan SC at the Vivekananda Yuba Bharati Krirangan stadium in the ongoing Indian Super League on Saturday.
Subhasish Bose and Manvir Singh scored a brace each to give comprehensive three points to their team. However, Molina reckons his team could have scored more goals as they had their chances.
The Mariners had 54.7 possession and took nine shots on target.
“I’m really happy with the performance of the team. We could have scored more goals; we had the chances, and we were not successful enough to score more. We would like to score a lot of goals every match. But in some moments, okay, those things happen,” the Mohun Bagan SG head coach said in the post-match press conference.
Molina’s team created a total of 14 chances whereas Mohammedan SC could only create seven. The Spaniard said the most important aspect is to create chances.
“I always say the same, and I repeat again. For me, the most important thing is to have chances. If you have the chances, the goals will come, for sure. Right now, I would like to support my strikers, because they didn’t score, but they did a great job, and they had the chances,” Molina remarked.
“In another moment, the goal will come, for sure. They are doing a great job today, or even in the last matches, they were not successful enough to score goals. But even with that, I’m absolutely happy with all of them; working really hard, having the chances, and the goals for sure will come,” he continued.
Australia’s Jason Cummings delivered two assists and bagged the Player of the Match for his fine show.
Speaking on the Australian, Molina said, “He (Cummings) has the quality to do it. He can come to the box and score goals, have the options to score, and create chances, even if he is not scoring right now. But if not, he can assist.”
“Cummings is really doing a good job with (Jamie) MacLaren and (Greg) Stewart. I am absolutely happy with all of them. And I am sure in any moment, they are going to score more goals,” Molina signed off.
Mohun Bagan Super Giant will next take on Punjab FC at the Vivekananda Yuba Bharati Krirangan on Wednesday.
