Kerala Blasters FC has decided to extend their goalkeeper Karanjit Singh’s contract by one year, which will keep him at the club till the Hero ISL 2022-23 season. Singh had joined the Southerners in the previous season of the tournament after Albino Gomes suffered an injury and was ruled out of the competition.
Karanjit started his football career at the early age of 15. Singh, who hails from Punjab, was roped in by Chennaiyin FC in 2015. He won two titles with Marina Machans in 2015 and 2017-18 season before parting ways with the club in 2019.
The 36-year-old veteran has played 17 matches for the Blue Tigers. Furthermore, he has the experience of playing 47 matches in the Hero Indian Super League in which has made a total of 118 saves and has maintained 13 clean sheets.
“I’m delighted to continue with Kerala Blasters. I hope to impart the knowledge I have earned through my experience to my teammates. I also look forward to getting on the field and helping the team win the cup this year, especially for the enthusiastic fans who encourage us in every step of the way!’ says Karanjit Singh.
“Karanjit is a record holder participant among the ISL players. His professionalism and attitude is obviously why he has been successful during his long career. He is a great example to young players and that is why we need this kind of professional in our team.” Says Karolis Skinkys, Sporting Director, KBFC.
Earlier in the season, the Tuskers had announced contract extensions of Bijoy Varghese, Jeakson Singh, Marko Lešković and Prabhsukhan Gill.
On the other hand, Kerala Blasters FC had come up with consistent performances in the previous season of the Hero ISL under the tutelage of head coach Ivan Vukomanovic. The Blasters had qualified for the finals but could not cross the final hurdle against Hyderabad FC.
