Kerala Blasters FC have secured the services of Bosnian defender Enes Sipovic for one year, the club announced on Saturday. Sipovic joins Kerala Blasters FC from Chennaiyin FC. Sipovic started his career with Bosnian side FK Željezničar and rose in youth football in Plavi. The defender graduated from the academy in 2009 and he also shared the same stage with AS Roma legend Edin Dezko, who was part of the same academy till 2003.
After impressing with his youth career, he inked his maiden professional deal with Otelul Galati in Romania and stayed there till 2015. In fact, his tenure at the Romanian club included two loan stints at Petrolul Ploiesti (Romania) and Farul Constanța (Romania).
Sipovic then made a move to Western Europe where he played for Belgian club Westerlo in the 2015 season. He then moved to Africa and joined hands with Morrocan side Ittihad Riadi Tanger.
Subsequently, he entered Asian Football in 2018-19 and joined Saudi side Ohod. Then Enes moved for a single season stint to his maiden club Željezničar.
Kerala Blasters FC’s Sporting Director, Karolis Skinkys said: “Enes is a reliable defender, strong on set pieces and positioning. I know that he can adapt to Indian conditions very well and he is an excellent team player. He showed huge motivation to represent Kerala, so I’m happy and looking forward to working with him soon.”
Sipovic commented: “I am so excited to join one of the biggest clubs in India, with an army of amazing fans. I must say that, my actions speak for myself, so on the field I will be LOUD.”
Sipovic becomes the second foreign signing of Kerala Blasters for the upcoming season as they had roped in Uruguayan midfielder Arian Luna last week. Sipovic had earlier become the first player Bosnian and Herzegovina player to play in Hero ISL when he represented Chennaiyin FC in the previous season.
