Jamshedpur FC’s head coach Khalid Jamil acknowledged the lack of team spirit after a 2-3 loss against Hyderabad FC at the GMC Balayogi Stadium, Hyderabad in the ongoing Indian Super League 2024-25 on Thursday.
Muhammed Rafi scored the opening goal for the Nawabs in the 12th minute of the game. However, the visitors took a 2-1 lead after Javi Hernandez scored a brace as he found the back of the net in the 24th minute (penalty kick) and 28th minute.
But the home team bounced back after halftime as Joseph Sunny and Andrea Alba scored in the second half of the game to give their team the first home win of the season.
“Disappointing result. It is not good. They deserve to win. We didn’t play that much because I think team spirit was not there, which has been our plus point. So, there were many mistakes. We need to rectify the mistakes and bounce back again” Jamil said in the post-match press conference.
The Indian coach admitted that they made a couple of mistakes, which led to their downfall in the game.
“No, I have to go there and rectify. Some problem is there. I think it was not an easy game, but we could’ve got the three points because, in the previous games, whatever we played, it was (about) spirit,” he opined.
“Everybody has been playing as a team, and that is a plus point. But this game was not the same. Some individual problems are there, and we have to solve them,” he continued.
Jamil urged his players to bounce back and deliver as a unit in the next game against Punjab FC in Delhi.
“Yeah, definitely, because everything was going good (until now), and only this game spoiled everything,” he remarked.
“So, we have to bounce back again, but still we have a long way to go. We must think about the next game,” Jamil signed off.
