Manchester United head coach Ruben Amorim admitted that the club lacked aggression after their 2-0 loss against Wolves at the Molineux Stadium on Thursday. After a goalless first half, Matheus Cunha scored directly from a corner to put Wolves ahead, and Hwang Hee-Chan was able to put the game to bed at the fag end.
The visitors also suffered a huge blow as they were reduced to 10-man after their captain Bruno Fernandes suffered a red card in the 47th minute.
“We have to improve the relationships, but we have some moments,” Amorim told Amazon Prime after the game.
“We lack a little bit of aggression, but we don’t train. We just play and try to find a better way to win games and that’s it. We can’t control the games like the other ones that we lost. I think we were always in control of the game, not always dominating, but in control of some things, some set-pieces. The sending off was really hard for us.”
This was the third consecutive loss for Manchester United and the Old Trafford-based club has managed only two wins under Amorim’s tutelage in eight matches.
On the other hand, Manchester City played a 1-1 draw against Everton at the Etihad Stadium on Thursday. Bernardo Silva scored early but Iliman Ndiaye equalized for the tourists. Furthermore, Erling Haaland missed a penalty for City.
In their last 13 matches, Pep Guardiola’s men have managed a solitary win with three draws and nine losses as their forgettable season continues.
While Manchester United will next take on Newcastle United at Old Trafford on Monday, Manchester City will face Leicester City on Sunday.
