Manchester United head coach Ruben Amorim is excited about the club’s 2025 prospects despite all the concerns regarding the team’s form. United is in troubled water as they finished 2024 at 14th place in the Premier League standings, only seven points ahead of the relegation places.
However, the Portuguese manager, who hasn’t had a bright start to his coaching tenure, is optimistic of turning the tables for the Red Devils.
Amorim wrote on club’s account on X: “I know it will take a lot of hard work from everyone to get there, but I am very excited about where we can go together in 2025.”
United are struggling as they have lost six out of their last eight matches in the Premier League.
Amorim said he will stick with his 3-4-3 system despite the players finding it difficult to adapt since he has taken over.
“Of course I didn’t choose the players specifically for these positions but that I already knew,” he said. “But I understand they have a lot of difficulties because they spend two years playing one way and then they are playing another.”
As Amorim took over in the middle of the season from former coach Erik Ten Hag, he didn’t have the luxury of implementing his plans in the preseason.
“I think the players are losing everything, the small things that we try to work on in training,” Amorim said. “After one goal they lose everything because we don’t have the base, we don’t have time to build the base to cope with the difficult moments so it’s really hard in this moment.”
Manchester United will next take on table-leaders Liverpool at the Anfield on Sunday.
